AV8A Pilot Placement Solutions was founded by pilots to look after pilots. Our primary goal is to keep our pilots happy by creating a personal relationship and actively managing each pilot who registers with us.

Having qualified airline pilots on our management team means that we understand the daily stresses involved in getting the job done whilst having to manage a personal life and we can therefore react and plan better in supporting our crews wherever they are in the world. Each pilot has a dedicated personal consultant who is responsible for the continued interaction between the pilot, the contract airline and ourselves. Pilots are also able to contact our management team directly should there be a need to seek solutions at a higher level. All pilots who register with AV8A Pilot Placement Solutions are encouraged to provide their short, medium and long-term goals in order that we have a better vision of what they wish to achieve. We also work with our pilots in structuring a career development plan in order to assist them in achieving the desired career goals such as contract location, aircraft type or working schedule.

We actively seek out flying positions across the world and assist flight departments in structuring contracts that meet the needs of both the organisation and the individual pilot.

Programs

Accelerated Command Program - Demand for contract captains in certain markets is rising rapidly as airlines increase their fleet sizes and contract pilots return to their home markets. This trend is expected to both endure and grow resulting in increased pressure on the supply of qualified captains. In the post-recession contract market, demand for pilots and especially captains are leading to rising salaries, improved benefits, improved work schedules and in certain cases, flight experience requirement are being adjusted downwards. AV8A Pilot Placement Solutions is currently in negotiations to provide various airlines with accelerated command solutions in order to assist in solving their shortage of experienced captains. Through identifying individuals who have sufficient experience but insufficient command time on type, we will provide the airline with a short-term evaluation process and command upgrade course to ensure that the high standards required from the airline are maintained whilst filling the required command position. We enable pilots to reach their goal of becoming a captain while solving the current captain shortage.

Financial Assistance Program - With some airlines demanding type ratings, some pilots are investing in their future earning potential by paying for these ratings to get ahead. Although demand for type ratings might not be required for certain positions, the majority of the contracts require the applicant to be type rated before applying for the position. After the recession, the global financial industry has become very cautious about whom they lend money to and sourcing funds to pay for a type rating is viewed as risky by many of the financial institutions. Although the financial return on the type rating could possible be recovered within 3 years by the pilot, it is still difficult to source these funds. AV8A Pilot Placement Solutions has approached various financial institutions to secure funding support for our potential contract candidates. Through actively negotiating with the banks and providing a financial plan showing the 5 year career path of a contract pilot, we have managed to secure an "intent to fund" based on certain qualification criteria. This "intent to fund" will allow pilots who meet the criteria to access funding for type ratings in order to qualify for further contracts. It will also assist with funding accelerated command programs depending on the Airline specific plan.

Flight Crew Succession Program - As demand for skilled crew increases due to fleet renewal and fleet expansion, pilots choose better opportunities and move from one contract to take advantage of better working conditions, better remuneration or simply a move to a better aircraft. This has the potential to cause flight operations delays and sometimes entails aircraft sitting on the ground without pilots to fly them. Certain airlines become feeders for the major airlines and for these affected airlines, we are able to provide crews that are part of a structured succession plan. Through providing our crews with a structured career plan, we are able to plan movement of the crews and cater for replacement crew for the airline with significantly less disruption than is currently experienced.

Training

AV8A Pilot Placement Solutions has established an affiliation with a training organisation in order to provide a higher level of service to our pilots and clients.

Due to the growing demand from airlines for pilots with type ratings, especially A320 and B737NG, the resources available for conducting type rating training will continue to be under pressure.

We have therefore teamed up with a training organisation to provide A320, B737NG and A340 type ratings. Further to this, our training affiliate is able to provide training from an ab-initio level up to airline standard multi-crew licenses.

They provide training solutions to various airlines from around the world and their organisation has current airline pilots in the management and instruction roles. By having qualified and current airline pilots involved, their level of training is continually refined to meet the changing trends in the airline environment therefore ensuring that candidates are trained to current standards and are airline ready on completion of their training program.
